Britney Spears: GMA Review

Britney Spears-2011 Good Morning America Mini-Concert Review
Britney Spears took the stage on Sunday in San Francisco to pre-record her performance for GMA...performing 3 songs from her seventh studio album 'Femme Fatale'. She started the day off with 'Hold It Against Me'...i have to say the GMA editing team did this song and the 'Till The World Ends' performance no justice. Watching many fan films of all the performances beforehand i knew that although 'Hold it Against Me wasn't AMAZING it was a huge step up from last Fridays mini-gig in Las Vegas.
The best bit of the HIAM performance was in my opinion the breakdown right through to the end of the song. I had a thought that maybe she would actually dance to the breakdown, with many Britney fans also being in the same mindset but the creative direction of Brian Friedman still made it look FIERCE. As the final chorus of the song was looming i was sitting on the edge of my seat wondering how good the dance would be compared to the video and i have to say i was pleasantly surprised, HOWEVER people who are not strong Britney fans who haven't seen any fan footage would've thought that the last chorus dance was very half-arsed and there wasn't any passion. I beg to differ on this point as watching fan footage she was amazing as soon as the final part of the song kicked in, the head bang into the step forward and then the bending down was exactly in time with her dancers which made it look amazing and i have to say overall although the performance was good it wasn't the best of the night, and the GMA editing team did it no justice.
The second song that was performed was 'Big Fat Bass', another song off of Femme Fatale featuring Wil.i.am, now i can sum up this performance in a shorter paragraph than Hold It Against Me and that is pretty good. Despite a big part of the song Britney was just sitting on boxes, the mix of some of her recent hits from her past albums made the song more inviting and wholesome. Whether it was from the small Womanizer and Slave 4 U bit, right up until the amazing 3 part which personally was my favourite as 3 was the only song from the Circus/Singles Collection Era that she didn't perform live. The one part i seemed to find really awkward and it may just be me thinking too much into this is that, for 3 and the short Slave part she mouthed but when it came to the Gimme More part at the start before she got into the first verse of BFB she seemed to have an expression on her face as the infamous chorus of the song was playing that you could see she didn't like the song. Could it have been that it brings back memories of the 2007 VMA's or she simply didn't feel like that part had to be mouthed. The performance flowed pretty well with help from the creative direction of Brian Friedman up until the dancebreak part of the song where Wil.i.am makes his short solo in the song. I had my reservations about this part as i thought maybe she would just sit on top of one of the speaker boxes but NO, she came onto the short runway of the stage and suddenly started dancing. This short dance segment started really well with her syncing with the dancers although it became quite stiff at times but overall a good dance part. This performance as a whole and i realise now that this paragraph isn't as short as i thought it would be but, this was a good performance of a song that no one was expecting her to perform when it made its debut performance in Vegas last Friday night.
FINALLY, we come to the closing 3rd song that was the epicness of 'Till The World Ends' the second single from Femme Fatale. Apart from again the dodgy camera work of the GMA editing team, if you watch the fan footage of this perfomance you will see that Britney is slowly breaking out of her shell, and she is becoming alot more confident. Throughout the performance she was syncing very well with her dancers, and some parts of the routine i found were very reminiscent of Britney's 2004 NRJ Awards Toxic performance. Then it came to the closing part of the performance with Britney climbing a prop that i am guessing is meant to be an electricity pile-on or tower. As she starts climbing up it and hair-flipping three times while sparks fly out of the pile-on, the last short chorus part kicks in UNTIL she turns round says the closing lines 'KEEP ON DANCING TILL THE WORLD ENDS, and then suddenly BANG!! and she flips her hair backwards, lunging in a still position. This ending just reminded me of the ending of the Slave 4 U performance at the DWAD tour where Britney climbs up the pole and flips her hair backwards. All in all after seeing multiple fan vids of the performances beforehand i have to give Britney's GMA performance a solid 7/10.
I can't wait for her new documentary entitled 'I Am The Femme Fatale' coming soon and her EPIC new video to TTWE (screen caps from the video above).
